Rethimno

Background

Rethimno or Rethymno (Ρέθυμνο) is a large harbor and a town.

The old town of Rethymno is charming with many old-fashioned stores but it is full of tourists.

Check-in facilities

When you enter the harbor of Rethimno [35° 22' N 24° 28' E]move to the east side and moor either along side or stern-to preferably on the norther jetty. This where you get the best protection from the meltemi.

Warning: With a strong northerly there can be a bad swell at the entrance of the harbor.

Tourism & things to do ashore

In town there is the Museum, in an old Turkish building, and the Folklor Museum, in a Venetian building. A visit to the historic Arkady Monastery and its Museum is worthwhile.
