Riva di Triano is a huge, modern marina situated around two miles SE of the large commercial port of Civitavecchia in [[Italy]].  It is a popular landfall for yachts arriving at the Italian mainland after a cruise around the offshore islands of [[Capraia]], [[Elba]] and [[Giglio]].  It is also a useful base for yachts wishing to visit ‘the eternal city’ of Rome without braving the frantic and expensive marinas closer to the city.  The marina offers nearly 1200 berths on 12 pontoons for yachts of up to 42 metres.  It gets quite crowded here in summer and berths are at a premium at this time, since the marina is only around 60 kilometers from Rome along the Via Aurelia.

The marina is just two miles SE of the large commercial port of Civitavecchia.  Beware of the numerous rocky reefs fringing the coast up to 100 metres off both N and S of the marina.  The long, curving breakwater is conspicuous on the approach from S or N.  The entrance is oriented NNE and an isolated port marker shows the inshore limit of the safe channel.  Depths in the entrance are 4.0 and in the marina 2.5 - 6.0 metres.  Entrance is tricky in strong onshore winds and could be dangerous in extreme conditions.

While the marina has good transport links, it is a long way from provisions and other shops (although there is a small supermarket and shopping centre in the marina).  However, if you can hire transport, the marina is the closest base for a visit to the superb Etruscan tombs near Tarquinia and the remarkable Etruscan cemetery of  Cerveteri, which together comprise a World Heritage Site and are absolutely unmissable
