The port of Senegallia is situated on the Adriatic coast of Italy around 14 miles NW of the port of Ancona and 12 miles SE of the harbour of Fano. The port, like many along this coast, consists of a canalized river basin (now unused and closed to navigation due to silting, and three additional basins at its mouth, one of which contains a relatively new marina.

During the summer months the prevailing winds in the Adriatic are light to moderate coastal seabreezes.
