The village and harbour of Stomorska lie on the NE coast of the island of Šolta in Croatia, just under three miles SE of Rogač. The harbour consists of a V-shaped inlet open N but partially protected on its NE side by a short rocky spit. The E side of the inlet and the narrow head are quayed and yacht berths provided along the deeper part of the quay.

Visiting yachts moor stern or bows-to, using the laid moorings provided. There are water and electricity points on the quay. The inlet is protected in winds from most directions but is open to the N and berthing here is inadvisable in strong winds from this direction. During busy periods, there is often little room for visiting yachts arriving late in the day and it may be necessary to go on to the anchorages of U. Nečujam two miles NW or to U. Navigation

There are no dangers in the approach to Stomorska. The inlet can be difficult to spot, but a red light structure on the headland on the E side of the entrance amongst the trees is a good guide. Once due N of the inlet, the village and harbour are clearly identifiable. Depths in the approach are 12-15 metres and at the quay 3.0 - 4.0 metres.

Entrance

Split is the nearest all-year round port of entry. During the summer, Hvar and, if arriving from N, Primošten on the mainland are also ports of entry.

Mooring lines have been laid along the quay on the E side of the inlet, providing berths stern or bows-to for 30-35 yachts of up to 20 metres.

Depths along the quay range from 2.5 metres at the S end to 3.0 metres at the N end (slightly reduced along much of its length by a short shelf, which should only cause problems for yachts with deep, transom-hung rudders). Depths, where your keel will be lying, are, however, 4.0 metres all along the quay except for the section of the quay in front of the restaurant Volat (the one with the red umbrellas), which has depths of only 1.5 – 2.0 metres and is therefore only suitable for shallow-draught vessels.

There are three widely-spaced water and electricity points on the quay. Toilets and showers available in the harbour offices (up the steps next to the post office). Shelter here is good in all conditions except with strong N winds, when a heavy swell enters and the harbour becomes untenable.

Stomorska waterfront is picture-perfect

Stomorska is a pretty village and popular with visiting yachtsmen. The oldest village on the island of Solta, it has a long tradition of building traditional wooden sailing boats and there are usually one or two to be seen in the harbour.
