Anchorage is at about the following position: 10.09S, 123.34E. The bay is large and it can accommodate many yachts. This is not a comfortable anchorage in E/SE wind of more than 15-20 knots. Landing a dinghy could also be difficult although there is a little jetty (damaged badly in 2008) that could be used if repaired.

Quarantine flag must be hoisted and the officers will come to the yacht. Immigration, Customs and Harbour Master have to clear after quarantine clearence is granted.

Anchorage in Kupang is not comfortable. It does not protect the boats from prevailing NE/E winds. We had winds in excess of 20 knots on a few occasions and some yachts dragged their anchors. Owners were often away thus others had to rescue the boats and those nearby. Customs boat dragged the anchor too. It actually hit a yacht.

-
Our stay in Kupang was rather on a negative site. This is a busy place with lots of noise from the traffic on roads. Walking was also a problem as the vehicles moved very close to the kerb. Holes and open sewage made the task even more difficult.

Last day we spent buying fresh vegetables and some drinks. The wind picked up again during the day and we just made it in time to the yacht. During the day we heard calls on the radio for people who needed Customs clearance. They had to ferry the officers between the yachts in rather bad conditions.
