-	Anchorage in Kupang is not comfortable. It does not protect the boats from prevailing NE/E winds. We had winds in excess of 20 knots on a few occasions and some yachts dragged their anchors. Owners were often away thus others had to rescue the boats and those nearby. Customs boat dragged the anchor too. It actually hit a yacht.
-	Our stay in Kupang was rather on a negative site. This is a busy place with lots of noise from the traffic on roads. Walking was also a problem as the vehicles moved very close to the kerb. Holes and open sewage made the task even more difficult.	+	{{Page outline}}

The island is divided between the sovereign states of East Timor on the eastern part and Indonesia, on the western part.
