Trains depart several times a day for the town of Santiago de Compostella, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and centre of pilgrimage since the 9th century AD.  The village of Carril five miles to the north of the marina is attractive, as is the island of Illa de Malveria Pequena just offshore.  If you have bicycles aboard, the Illa de Arousa six miles to the south is idyllic, with dazzling white sandy beaches reminiscent of tropical isles.  Access is via a long causeway from the eastern side of the Ria.
