More notes about the marina |
Kemer is one of the most spectacularly sited marinas along the Turkish coast, wedged between the immense limestone plateau of Tahtali Daği and the jagged peaks of the Taurus mountain range extending along the coast towards Antalya. The town is of fairly recent origins and has since the 1980s become a busy and sometimes frenetic tourist resort. The Turkiz Kemer marina here is compact (only 240 berths) but has a full range of services. It is a popular over-wintering spot but is very noisy during the season, with discos blasting from the hotels along the beach east of the town and especially the one directly opposite the marina entrance. There are some idyllic (and quiet when the gulets leave) anchorages to the south between Kemer and the headland of Tasklik Burnu, from which it is easy to visit the ancient sites of Olympos and Phaselis.
Communication
Call on VHF channel 73 before entry.
Warning: The headland of Koca Burnu should be given a clearance of least half a mile on the approach from the south as it has dangerous reefs off it. The smaller headland of Küçük Burnu just east of the marina also has a reef extending around 100 metres off. On the approach from north, there is a group of above-water rocks about 0.75 miles NNE of the marina entrance which is marked with an isolated danger mark (at night Fl(2) 10s). There is a further shallow patch 250-300 metres NNW of the marina entrance, with depths over of 3 – 4 metres. An approach from NE avoids all these dangers.
Berthing

- A delightful setting and a very cosy marina with most of the services a cruising yachtsman could wish for - BUT very noisy during the season. You’ll need earplugs at night --Athene of Lymington 07:22, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
