Weather

Howe Sound is generally protected from stronger winds and sea states in the Georgia Strait. Inflow winds from the south are common during daylight hours and outflow winds from the north more common at night. The Port Graves anchorage is well protected from all but direct southerly winds. However, due to low terrain immediately north of the anchorage, strong northerly winds can still have some effect. Sea state is generally calm in all conditions but wakes from larger vessels (mainly the regular ferries) frequently run all the way to the end of the anchorage.
