My husband, William (Bill), Norrie and I own a beautiful Pacific Seacraft Crealock 37, SV Terrwyn, which is currently moored in the April Point Marina on Quadra Island, British Columbia, Canada. We are planning our dream trip which will commence next June - heading 'over the horizon' to the South Pacific and ultimately ending in New Zealand (of which I am a citizen). We are taking a 6 month leave of absence ( I know, that seems a short bit of time to really cruise around and get to know the South Pacific) for this initial trip. We will then keep Terrwyn moored in New Zealand and we will become "Snow Birds" each year heading for the southern summer when the snow starts to fly in Canada. We have been studying all aspects of cruising including and beyond the physical skills of sailing a boat - physics of sailing, celestial navigation, weather and climate, provisioning, foul weather techniques, communication and navigation technologies etc. etc. We have set up a blog to help to document our preparation for and the actual doing of our 'big trip'. Bill has had many years of experience with sailing including racing in the Vic-Maui race... whereas I, having started sailing while living in New Zealand in the 70's, have recently caught the cruising fever. We love to talk with others and read accounts of those who have experience with or dreaming of cruising through the South Pacific...
