I'm a 71 y.o. dreamer who started sailing dinghys competitively at age 7 and was active in ocean racing from 1962 to the 1970s when our family started growing. We then took the outboard powered "fishing boat" path to staying on the water. Having survived multiple by-pass surgery in 2008 I, with my wife, decided to pursue the cruising dream we had harboured for over 40 years. We purchased a Lancer 44 motorsailer because it is ideal for a couple of geriatrics. It is rigged for short handed sailing and offers real creature comforts. After spending a couple of years bringing the boat up to the standard we required for a home, we departed Hervey Bay, Queensland in November 2011. We sailed south as far as Lake Macquarie, NSW, visiting most of the ports and rivers along the way. In May 2012 we turned north and cruised to far north Queensland, finally turning round at Princess CHarlotte Bay in November. We returned to Hervey Bay and up the Mary River for slipping and a bit of maintenance. Now we are on our way north again with a view to cruising SE Asia.
