Pete Lambert

I’ve been sailing since I was about 18, first in my Dad’s Alacrity, then (after about 15 years of windsurfing) I bought Chevy Chase (an Alacrity) which I refurbished and kept on drying moorings in Beadnel Bay.

We sailed to the Farne Islands and Holy Island as far as Eyemouth – she was probably the best value boat I’ve owned.

I got Typhoon (a Sigma 33) - for ‘round the cans’ racing and cruising and entered the RNYC Bass Rock, a 155 mile race from Blyth round the Bass Rock in the Firth of Forth with my old windsurfing mates as crew (won the Royal Northumberland Cup –Bass Rock in 1998).

In 1999 I bought a new Beneteau Oceanis we named Orion. A fantastic cruiser we travelled over 20,000 miles in the following ten years, as well as doing quite a bit of round the cans and inter-island racing in the Canaries.

In 2009 I bought a new Beneteau First 40 naming her Typhoon after my earlier Sigma 33. We did quite a bit of local and inter-island racing in her around the Canaries for a couple of years before sailing her back to Hamble in 2011 to be sold.

Arcturus was built in the late spring of 2012 and launched in June, a relatively easy boat to sail but also fast and responsive. She is well appointed and a very comfortable cruising boat.
