Learned to sail in a Lido 14 in Newport Bay as a pre-teen. Had the pleasure and occasionally terror of racing other peoples big boats in the Pacific, including Victoria to Maui. Since then, mostly cruising “rentals” from Tahiti to Croatia, usually sailing Moorings boats, we find they very often do an excellent job.. Still learning the fine and nuanced art of congenial but disciplined skipper, assisted by ASA bareboat certification (required in some Mediterranean ports). I’m sure i will do a flawless Stern-to in a cross wind sometime. Just not yet. R
