Deb and her husband Tim have been cruising since their retirement in 2013 on their 1982 Tartan 42 cutter rig sailboat. Their cruising grounds include the East coast of the U.S. as well as the Bahamas. The upcoming cruising season they hope to push deeper into the Caribbean. Both Deb and Tim have kept a detailed blog about their experiences as they went from sailing neophytes to cruisers. The blog is The Retirement Project and can be found at www.theretirementproject.blogspot.com. Deb is a children's book author writing a series of children's books which feature Maryssa Mayberry, a young sailor concerned about the problems with the ocean who teaches kids what they can do to help. The first in the series was Mr. Sun and the Super Sleepy Sunday, published in 2014. The second one is due Christmas of 2015 which will deal with the plastics issue. She co-authored a book with her husband about the pitfalls of buying a cruising boat that was released in June of 2015. The book is titled, "How NOT to Buy a Cruising Boat." Deb and Tim look forward to many years of cruising in the Atlantic and Caribbean waters.
