I am a 52-year-old chemistry professor at the University of Delaware in Newark, DE, USA. I learned how to sail a dinghy on a small lake behind my house (Somerset Lake) in Landenberg, PA, 19350 (USA). My best ocean-sailing experiences are aboard Marie, hailing from Trenton, Maine. She is a 45.5-foot Bristol sloop designed by Ted Hood (the 1974 America's Cup winner with "Courageous"). Along with Marie's owner and captain, I have taken Marie all up and down the beautiful Maine Coast, to Nova Scotia, up and down the US East Coast, and across the Gulf Stream to the Abaco Islands in the Bahamas. Later this Spring I will help sail her back north to her home in Trenton, Maine.
