Welcome to CruisersWiki!

We all look forward to your valued contributions to the Cruising Wiki. Help it grow as a useful, free resource for all cruisers around the world.

Spend a little time reading the help pages (link in L/H menu) and the Style Guide to gain a better understanding of the Wiki formatting and how to edit articles. Please add what you can - even correcting grammar and spelling errors in articles is a great help. The more you use the Wiki the easier (and more addictive) it becomes.

Use any page's "Discussion" tab (top of page's menu) to ask any questions or make any suggestions about that particular page.

Please set your personal preferences in "My Preferences" (link at top R/H of page when logged in).

Also, please read the Cruiserswiki Copyrights notice, as well as the General Disclaimers (links at bottom of pages).

Again, welcome and have fun! Bring out that hidden "Cruising Guide writer" in you. Athene of Lymington 13:55, 27 June 2013 (BST)

Editing pages

Hi Agustin

I see you've made a start on the Canaries section. Can I suggest a useful tip? It's easier to save the whole template, using your word processing software, do all the editing offline and then upload the finished page to the Wiki. Otherwise, you're going backwards and forwards all the time and saving it in small chunks. It's sometimes useful, if you're struggling with the templates, to find a similar page on the Wiki to the one you're trying to edit - for example a nearby marina - and save that for editing offline. If you do that, however, please ensure that you change all the relevant items, including the GPS co-ordinates, Photo Gallery (you do a search in Panoramio and then save the resulting URL), Local Chartlet (same procedure using Free Topo Maps) and all the other details and photos of the marina (not forgetting the links at the bottom of the page).

It's all a bit daunting when you start, but you soon get the hang of it and as long as you always preview what you've done before you save it you can see if you've made any mistakes.

Hi,Gordon. Thank You for your words; I was a bit worried to do things wrong. I hope with a bit more of experience editing , I can manage better with the editing tools. Do you think what I have done by now, was acceptable? Thanks again.Regards, Agustín.

Canaries Marinas

Hi Agustin

It is wonderful that we now have a resident of the Canaries helping with our wiki pages.

I have modified the Marina_Rubicon and Pasito_Blanco that you have recently changed. I have added some more info, from the marina websites that you have provided. Please take a look.

The Pasito_Blanco was configured not as marina page but as port page. I saw from your edits and web that it is actually a marina. So I used the marina template and rearranged it accordingly based on your info.

You, being an engineer made a very good beginning but, like all of us when we started our wiki editing carrier you could use some handholding. Back in 2007 when I starred, despite my engineering background, I was helped and guided by the then "senior" editor. So please do not hesitated to contact me, either from my talk page or by email.

Have fun. --Istioploos 16:12, 2 July 2013 (BST)
