Port Alberni with a population of 17,678 is a deep port city that lies within the Alberni Valley at the head of the Alberni Inlet, Vancouver Island's longest inlet.

Alberni Harbour Quay

This was a fishing port where now passenger and freight vessels stop. A yacht facility has been added with 15 berths. Amenities include washrooms, showers, laundry, a security access system and on site management. The facilitiy is adjacent to the Lighthouse Pier that features the Maritime Heritage Discovery Centre. It is sheltered by two large breakwaters.
