Situated on Hospital Bay, Port Huon is at the limit of deep water navigation up the Huon River. There is a large wharf from which the Huon Valley fruit crop used to be exported, but that trade has now collapsed. There are some fish farms on the south side, but there is plenty of room to anchor in good holding.
Cruising the region
Vessels of 2 metres draft or less can proceed up the Huon River to Franklin, paying attention to the marked channel around the west side of Crowthers Bay
