Attika Coast (Coast of Athens)
| |
The coast of Attika or Attica (Αττική) is the coast of Athens and the playground of the Athenians. It is the most crowded area in Greece, full of large ships, fast ferries, motor cruisers, fishing boats, and sailboats. All the marinas are full with long waiting lists. It will be hard for a visiting yacht to find a berth here.

Anchorages
Sounio
Just to the W of Cape Sounio there is a cove where you can anchor. It is usually crowded and it is not a very secure but it is a great place to anchor while visiting the famous temple of Poseidon a 10 minute walk up the hill.
Anchor in 3-5 m depth. The bottom is weed and the holding is bad. Look for a patch of sand to the N of the cove.
Danger: With a strong meltemi there are violent gusts and the anchorage may not be tenable. It is best to go to Anavissos rather then risk collision with another drifting yacht.Yacht Services and Repairs
