Entrance
I arrived at English Harbour on the 14th of April, and, upon finding not enough room to anchor, or tie up at the yellow buoys, dropped anchor in Falmouth Harbour. I went to English Harbour to clear in, only to be told that I would have to return to my boat as every member of the crew would have to fill out and sign the immigration form. It would be best to find a space in English Harbour to clear in, as it could be a bit of a walk and dinghy ride back to your boat if you don't have the correct forms or they are not filled out correctly.
Immigration, Visas and Customs
Immigration
- Citizens from the U.K., U.S., Canada only require proof of citizenship (i.e. a valid passport, etc.).
- An advance visa is not required for nationals of Commonwealth Countries, E.U. U.S, nor for nationals of Albania, Argentina, Armenia , Azerbaijan , Belarus, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, Georgia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Liechtenstein, Mexico, Moldova, Monaco, Norway, Peru, Romania, Russian Federation, South Korea, Suriname, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Venezuela.
- Visa applications can be made to: Permanent Mission of Antigua and Barbuda, Email
Immigration will issue a visa on arrival for a maximum of 6 months (for nationals of those countries that do not require an advance visa). This visa can be extended by making timely application in St Johns (rather costly at US$100).
Crew Changes
- Crew disembarking must have an onward air ticket and must be signed off through Immigration.
- Crew arriving by air must produce (to airport immigration on arrival) a letter signed by the yacht's skipper/owner AND a certified copy of the ship's papers of the yacht he/she is joining for onward passage.
Customs
- Firearms and ammunition MUST be declared on arrival.
- Penalties for illegal drugs are extremely severe.
- Do not unload ANYTHING from the boat before the Customs inspection.
- PETS: - An Import Permit must be obtained from the Chief Veterinary Officer. Your pets must have been microchipped and blood-tested for rabies at an approved laboratory. The blood test results must be forwarded to the Chief Veterinary Officer, PO Box 1282, St Johns, Antigua, West Indies. Ph/Fax 268 460 1759, Email. You will then be issued with an Import Permit for the pet.
