Ambrym is an island in Vanuatu, in the triangle between Malakula, Epi and Pentecost islands.

Cruising the region

Ambrym is a popular stop on the way north from Port Vila to Luganville and the northern islands of Vanuatu. It contains an active volcano which is a popular tourist stop, although not as accessible as the volcano on Tanna.

Paama Island

Paama Island is about 4 miles to the south of the southern tip of Epi Island. It has a small population mostly living in villages on its coast. There is an anchorage on the western side of the island.

Lopevi Island

Lopevi Island is uninhabited and contains an active volcano. It may be possible to anchor off the western shores of the island but the volcano erupts regularly and this may not be a particularly good idea. The population was evacuated in 1960 and has not since returned.
