The town and marina of Chiavari are situated five miles SE of [[Rapallo]] on the W bank of the Entella River. The much larger marina of Lavagna lies on the E bank half a mile away.  Although less attractive than its neighbouring towns of [[Portofino]] and [[Rapallo]], Chiavari nevertheless has some interesting 13th century arcaded buildings in the town centre, some impressive palazzos and a 12th century mediaeval castle.  [[Chiavari Marina]] offers good shelter, although entry should not be attempted in strong S winds in view of the shallow entrance and the dangerous swell that prevails in these conditions (see marina entry).

The town and marina of Chiavari are situated five miles SE of Rapallo on the W bank of the Entella River. The much larger marina of Lavagna lies on the E bank half a mile away.
