Port Gaios

World icon.png 39°12.12′N, 20°11.26′E

Port Gaios is the harbor of Paxos. Despite the crowded conditions is an attractive little harbor. It provides excellent shelter from strong North or West gales.

Moor stern-to the quay in front of the town or in the northern channel. When very busy in the summer months an alternative is to anchor in the north channel and take a stern line ashore to the N side of Ay. Nikolaos. The bottom is mostly sand with some weed and provides good holding. In the summer season yachts are required to move from some parts of the quay by 0900 to make space for tripper boats from the mainland.

Occasionally someone may come round and collect a mooring fee.

Anchorages

Port Lakka

Port Lakka is an almost landlocked bay on north of Paxos. It is open only to the north east and provides good shelter from the meltemi. It is picturesque but very popular and liable to be crowded.

Anchor in 2-4 m over sand/mud and weed. There is a small quay that can take about 6 yachts stern-too. The view from the lighthouse is very good. Water and electricity available from the travel agent on the quay.
