Berthing

Chart of Cala Colom

The port It is usually crowded with local boats but you may be able to find a berth on the pontoons or an unoccupied mooring

There are a large assortment of mooring buoys located on the south/left side of the cala as you enter. These buoys are available for long-term rent from the Harbour Master but can be very difficult to book, especially during the summer season. Anchoring is available on the north/right side of the cala. The holding is good in mud, but be cautious as this area has been dredged and gets shallow very suddenly.

Fuel, Water, & Electricity

Fuel
Although there are two fuel docks indicated on the attached chart, only the one closest to the entrance and in front of the Repsol station on the street offers fuel. Their working hours are 0900-1330 and 1700-1900 on week days and shorter on Sundays. If there is no attendant present to serve you, try the Repsol station on the street. This quay also houses a number of large fishing boats during evenings and weekends, sometimes making it difficult to reach the quay
Water
Available on the fuel quay
Electricity
Available at the Club Nautico, which is the second quay shown on the chart

Things to do Ashore

Tourism

Visit the island.

Grocery & Supply Stores

  • There are numerous stores, including two large supermarkets a ten-minute walk south up the hill from the harbour between the harbour area and the tourist area. Look for signs or ask for directions to the SYP. There is a nice carniceria on the main water street and a good vegetable shop one street up from the water street and toward the west end of the cala. In this same area is a small chandlery and the post office

Eateries

  • There are numerous restaurants, including some fine-dining establishments in the harbour area. Try Sa Sinia, a five-minute walk from the Club Nautico visitor's quay on the water street toward the west end of the cala

Internet/WiFi

Available?

Laundry

  • There is an excellent lavanderia in the tourist area of the town to the south/left of the harbour entrance. Unfortunatley, if you are carrying much laundry it requires a short taxi ride to reach. Ask the driver to take your to Erika's Lavanderia

Motorbike & Car Rentals

  • Car rentals are available

  • Porto Colom has been a favorite location for our boat for years. It provides a well protected harbour, fuel, water, excellent provisioning opportunities, good restaurants, a choice of visitors quay with good showers, or anchoring. Until 2008 the Club Nautico visitor's quay was a bargain, but sadly this is no longer the case. In addition, Porto Colom is well located on the scenic East Coast of Mallorca, offering opportunities for day excursions with a safe haven to return to in the evening --Prairie Chicken
