Submit details of local radio Nets.

Routes to/from

Popular routes, timing, etc.

Check-in facilities

Variable.. when I arrived 4 years ago all departments (Armada/Aduana/Immigration/Quarantine) came down to Oxxean. This may not always be the case. Likewise when applying for a Zarpe it may be organised for you by the marina or you may have to go to the Armada offices in Angelmo. Either way apply several days in advance, longer if it is your first Zarpe.

There are three marinas in Puerto Montt, in order from seaward along the north shore of Canal Tenglo they are:-

Club Deportes Nauticos Reloncavi( know more generally as Club Nautico) http://www.nauticoreloncavi.com/pags/cont_pre.html Camino Chinquihue Km 7, Fono (56) 65-255022 Fax (56) 65-264022

Hard stand and 27 tonne Travelift.

Marina Oxxean http://www.oxxean.cl/marina_oxxean/english/start.html Camino Chinquihue Km 06, Fono-fax (56) 65-255544, Correo Postal: Casilla 446 - Puerto Montt

Half of Oxxean is dedicated to the commercial trade while there is a finger dedicated to yachts. It is possible to dry out alongside. Diesel alongside the commercial pier.

Marina del Sur. http://www.marinadelsur.cl/english/ Camino Chinquihue Km. 4,5 - Fono (56 65) 251958 - Correo Postal: Apartado 13 - Puerto Montt - E-mail [email protected]

Marina del Sur is mainly a 'local' marina and is not much used by visiting yachts.

Club Nautico and Marina Oxxean are competing for the visiting yacht trade and the competition is keeping rates quite low.

All three marinas have regular bus services to town passing their gates.

Anchorages

List details of all safe anchorages in the area.

Tourism & things to do ashore

Lots to see and do... a trip to Puerto Varas and a meal at 'La Olla' is almost obligatory.

Marine stores and storing in general

Produce fresh off the boat

Puerto Montt is an excellent port for storing ship with a good choice of hypermercados. All the major ones stock vacuum packed meat but the very best meat is to be found in Nueva Branau. Getting there involves a bus ride to Puerto Varas and then a second bus to Nueva Branau. The carnicería is just before the village. Seriously good meat vacuum packed to order as you wait.

For fresh produce and fish, however, the weekend market at Angelmo is the better choice while potatoes and onions can be bought in bulk straight of the boat at Muelle Pappas.

Angelmo is also well served by a good number of chandlers selling the full range from charts through electronics to rope.

There are small ferreterias ( hardware stores) scattered throughout the town and what you want will be out there somewhere. The two largest in the town are Ferreteria Weitzler S.A. Antonio Varas 1112, and Easy, Ejercito 470.

Also worthy of note are..

Gami Ltda, Avda Pdte. Ibanez, Puerto Montt. Fono (56) 65-262560 http://www.gami.cl Gami 'MundoBaterias' are agents for all major battery brands such as Bosch, AC Delco and Trojan. On board testing and installation.

Ecosub, Panamericana 510 ( Ruta 5 ), Puerto Montt. (56) 65-263939 http://www.ecosub.cl [email protected] Ecosub is a full service dive shop.

Dimarsa & Dimarsa Industrial http://www.dimarsa.cl/ If these people don't have it you don't need it. Everything from cosmetics and camping kit to inflatables and Yanmar outboards.
