Approach and Navigation

  • Wax Cut is at the north end of Shroud Cay. This cut is a excellant for going from the bank to sound side.

Anchorages

  • Shroud Cay mooring field - Good other then winds are between south and west. Mooring fee <40 ft $15, >40 $20. Leave payment in box by the fresh water well behind the beach to the north of the mooring field.
  • Good holding encourages many boats to anchor around the mooring field.

Things to do Ashore

Tourism

  • There are several mangrove creeks going through the island. The northern most one starts 1 nm north of the mooring field and meanders through the island coming out on the east shore by Camp Driftwood. Camp Driftwood is at the top of the hill just north of the mangrove creek. There is a path leading up to it from the beach on the east side. Camp Driftwood offers a spectacular view of the mangrove creeks
  • There is a fresh water well at the entrance to the middle mangrove creek. There are steps to it by the beach on the south side of the west entrance. This creek gets very shallow at low tide
  • The second creek from the south 24:31.4N 71:46.5W was navigable by dinghy 1 1/2 hours either side of high tide
