Imagename File

Hi Janet. Looks as if a new user has replaced the imagename.jpg file by mistake. This seems to be a popular mistake for new users :-( Are you able to sort this out. Cheers Pedro

templates usage in general

Aloha, can You take a look for User_talk:Lighthouse#Photos_templates. Can We make agreement about using some templates?

• 1) automatic categorization of photo if GPL is used
• 2) using template {{welcome}} – Template:Welcome
• 3) using 2.nd level title "References" with template {{references}}(not created yet)

New Feature

Hi Janet

User:LifePart2 made to me the following suggestion to encourage more badly needed participation in the wiki. I think this is good suggestion but I have no idea how to implement it. Your help will be appreciated. --Istioploos 14:58, 18 July 2013 (BST)

As I suggested, I also think it would be a good idea to have a lightbox popover appear after a new user has been on the site for, say 2 minutes (long enough to show they are using the site), with some kind of moral imperative for them to contribute if they found it useful. Something along the lines of "Are you finding this page useful? If so, please would you 'pay it forward' by contributing to the pages about places that you have previously visited. It doesn't have to be much - even a single line giving your date of visit in the section "Last Visited & Details Checked " tells other people that the information is current and up to date.And don't worry about screwing anything up - all edits are moderated, so if do you make a mistake, it will be corrected for you. The more people that do even the smallest of updates, the more useful this site will become. To get started, just register here: Oh, and if you have a relevant blog or website, you can include a link to that too."

Discussion pages

Hi Janet, sorry for breaking in.

I wonder if there is a proper way to communicate with the administrators of this wiki.

The thing is that I left some notes at a couple of discussion pages on Wikimedia version of this wiki CruisersWiki_talk:Current_events#Mediawiki engine upgrade and another one on a misconfiguration issue Talk:World_Cruising_and_Sailing_Wiki#Wrong link to Creativecommons.png.

It looks like these posts did not attract any of interest, but perhaps I have made something really stupid.
