Sochi (Russian: Сочи; IPA: [ˈsotɕɪ]) is a city in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, situated on the Black Sea coast near the border between Georgia/Abkhazia and Russia. Greater Sochi sprawls for 145 km (90 mi) along the shores of the Black Sea near the Caucasus Mountains. According to the 2010 Census, the city had a permanent population of 343,334; up from 328,809 recorded in the 2002 Census, making it Russia's largest resort city. It is the most southern commercial Port of Entry. It lies about 25nM NW of the border with Georgia.

As you approach Sochi, and are 5 miles off, hail "Port Control" at VHF ch 16 advising of you arrival.

Sochi is a port of entry to Russia. Upon arrival you should first moor (either Med or alongside) at the customs dock where you will be met by the authorities and/or your agent. The crew should not attempt to disembark before all the formalities are completed. This applies whether or not you are entering Russia for the first time or coming from another Russian port.

Notify the authorities one day before your intending departure. They will come to the boat, more or less, at the declared time to clear you.

For entrance details see Russia.

Sochi Port

After clearing with the authorities Med-moor to the NE finger pier. Alternatively you can go to the Sochi Yacht Club Harbor about 2 nM ESE.
