Anchorages

List details of all safe anchorages in the area.

  • Sadly, Andraitx has little left for safe anchorages. Previously anchoring was possible in the entrance outside of the channel and inner harbour. However, the development of floating quays on the west side of the entrance resulted in locals setting mooring buoys on the east side of the entrance, effectively eliminating any safe anchorage except far out near the entrance. Winter storms in 2008/09 destroyed the floating quays, leaving an area too fouled to anchor safely but with no warnings of this hazard. The inner basin is home to a large fleet of fishing boats. Due to these fishing boats, very little anchoring, if any, is permitted in the basin except in the case of emergency.

Tourism & things to do ashore

Puerto d'Andraitx is an attractive village and tourist destination. It offers everything a cruiser requires for a comfortable stay, albeit at a price. The Club de Vela offers most services for even large yachts. Provisioning is easy, restaurants are numerous and excellent, and a good lavenderia is located at the lovely showers at the Club.

During the off-peak season, dolphins are often spotted near the entrance of the harbour.
