The Calendonian Canal provides an extremely useful link between the west and east coasts of Scotland, running from Fort William on the west coast to Inverness on the east coast. It takes at least 14 hours (two days minimum) to transit the canal, but is well worth spending longer enjoying the fantastic scenery and sailing on the lochs.
