The W quay is rather shallow, with depths of 1.5 – 1.75 metres. The best place for a yacht is at the end of the N quay, where a yacht can lie alongside in depths of 2.75 metres. This position offers excellent shelter from the prevailing N/NE winds. Second best option is to do an anchor moor on the S quay, where there is space for around 12-15 yachts. However, depths are uneven here and range from 1.75 to 2.0 metres, so deeper draft yachts may prefer to go bows to. However, in view of the exorbitant charge for mooring in the harbour, many yachts may prefer to anchor off or even avoid the harbour altogether.

Marinas & Yacht Clubs

Personal Notes

Personal experiences?

  • We felt totally ripped off in Murefte, being charged YTL 50 simply for lying alongside a rough stone quay, with absolutely no facilities. The fishermen’s co-operative which runs the harbour seems to have a predatory approach to foreign yachtsmen and the quays here are likely to stay empty until this policy changes.--Athene of Lymington 06:58, 19 June 2011 (BST)
