Santa Maria Navarrese has a delightfully situated marina, Marina Baunei, nestling under huge limestone outcrops four miles north of the busy commercial harbour of Arbatax. It is roughly half way along the eastern coast of Sardinia, equidistant from Cagliari and Santa Teresa Gallura. The town is named after the 11th century church of Santa Maria, believed to have been constructed on orders from the daughter of the King of Navarre (hence the name).

Marina Baune has six pontoons offering berths for 370 boats. Maximum length 30 metres. Depths 2.5 - 7.5 metres. Water and electricity on all pontoons. Toilets and showers. Fuel station. Slipway. Mobile crane (15T) and travel hoist (40T). Laundry at harbour office.

There is a good anchorage in settled weather at Ogliastra island, two miles SSE of the harbour.
