More notes about the marina

St. Peters Marine is a very well sheltered marina which is full of character and close to Newcastle Quayside, Gateshead Quays and Newcastle City Center. It is entered from the River Tyne through a lifting bridge which can be self operated. The has an automatic cill which is raised on the bottom half of the tide and retains a designed depth of 2 meters in the Marina, though with silting this is often somewhat less.

Marina radio contact

  • VHF Channel 80

Navigation/Approach

The marina lies on the northern bank of the river 0.75 nautical miles west of St. Anthonys Point. It lies among a housing estate and can be identified by the distinctive yellow marina 'control' tower immediately east of the lifting bridge. Call the marina on VHF 80 or phone them on 0191 265 4472 to ask for the bridge to be opened. Out of working hours it may be neccesary to moor on the waiting pontoon and self activate the bridge lift from the yellow control box mounted on the shore above the waiting pontoon.
