Yerakas (Γέρακας) or Ieraka or Yeraki is a hamlet in a deep fjord leading into a shallow lagoon, situated on the SE coast of the Peloponnese. Yerakas (Γέρακας) or Ieraka or Yeraki is a hamlet in a deep fjord leading into a shallow lagoon, situated on the SE coast of the Peloponnese. This is a most beautiful place and provides good shelter in the meltemi, although there is some reflected swell in very strong NE winds.

Yerakas harbor with its deep the fjord it is an excellent all around shelter.
With a small yacht you can go side-to the small village quay. Many cruisers do not find this very attractive and prefer instead to anchor off in 4-6 m. The holding away from the quay, once your anchor has dug in the mud, is good.
If you anchor moor to the quay, note that the holding is not always good and several attempts may be necessary. For this reason, many yachts prefer at less busy periods to go alongside the concrete jetty at the entrance to the harbour, where depths are 4.0 - 5.0 metres.
