Jiangsu (About this sound 江苏; formerly romanized as Kiangsu), is an eastern-central coastal province of the People's Republic of China. It is one of the leading provinces in finance, education, technology, and tourism, with its capital in Nanjing. Jiangsu is the third smallest, but the fifth most populous and the most densely populated of the 23 provinces of the People's Republic of China. Jiangsu has the highest GDP per capita of Chinese provinces and second-highest GDP of Chinese provinces, after Guangdong.

Transportation

  • Shanghai has many international flights and Nanjing some, including a new direct service to Frankfurt on Lufthansa; both those cities also have many domestic flights.
  • The new high speed trains connect Hangzhou and Shanghai to cities in Jiangsu — Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou and Nanjing
  • There are also boats along the Yangtze and the Grand Canal
