Approach and Navigation

The peninsula of Ile Rousse is easily identified from distance by the prominent Genoese watchtower that sits proudly on its summit. There are no obvious hazards in the approach, although the rocky islets at the end of the peninsula should be given a wide berth if approaching from W. Note that a shoal patch extends off the headland that encloses the S end of the bay in which the harbour sits. The harbour is used by large ferries plying between Corsica and the ports of Nice, Toulon and Marseille and care should be taken on the approach.

Berthing options

Visiting yachts have the option of berthing in the marina, the Port de Plaisance Ile Rousse, or anchoring off in the bay, clear of the numerous moorings. Call the marina on VHF channel 09.

Marinas & Yacht Clubs

The Port de Plaisance Ile Rousse has berths for 250 yachts in its harbour of up to 12.0 metres length and maximum draft of 4.0 metres. Larger yachts can moor using their anchors on the outside of the harbour breakwater, but only if the weather is settled. Facilities include water and electricity, toilets and showers, wifi, café/bar, fuel station, fixed crane, slipway and limited hard standing.

Anchorages

It is possible to anchor off in the bay SE of the harbour, avoiding the numerous moorings laid there. Anchor in 6.0 - 8.0 metres. The holding is good in sand and mud.
