Nesebar (also transcribed as Nessebar or Nesebur, Bulgarian: Несебър, pronounced [nɛˈsɛbɐr], Thracian: Melsambria, Greek: Μεσημβρία, Mesembria) is an ancient town and one of the major seaside resorts on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast, located in Burgas Province.

The ancient town of Nessebar, an UNESCO World Heritage Site, is sometimes referred to as Bulgaria's Dubrovnik. It lies at the southern end of a big bay, with Sveti Vlas at its northern end.

Approach and Navigation

Approach carefully. Keep well to the South when approaching the breakwater from the North or East. A small marker buoy indicates the extent of the shallows to the South.

Caution: There are shallows for some distance arround the point and there can be fishing nets.

Hail Port Control on VHF Channels 16 and 11.

Nesebar is NOT a port of entry to Bulgaria.

There are several Berthing possibilities:

  1. Along the breakwater on the north side of the South harbor (open to the southerlies)
  2. In the new Marina Nessebar north of the South harbor
  3. In the Yacht's Port Marina on the west of the South harbor
  4. In the North Fishing Harbor
  5. Anchor off

This new marina has a floating breakwater pontoon offering protection from Southerly winds and waves. It provides Water, electricity and WiFi.

Yacht's Port Marina

This small marina is at the western end of the South harbor's breakwater.

Anchorages

In Southerly winds anchor on the north side of the peninsula west of the fishing harbour. It is a sand/mud and weed bottom. Keep a careful eye out for isolated rocks when you are inside the 4 m contour.
