The town and small harbour of Tucepi lie on the Adriatic coast of [[Croatia]], four miles SE of the harbour of [[Makarska]] and three miles NW of the larger harbour and marina of [[Podgora]]. The island of [[Brac]] lies eight miles to the W and the steep Biokovo mountain range three miles inland. A popular holiday town, the inner part of Tucepi harbour has been converted into a mini ‘marina’ with space for 50 vessels up to 15 metres in depths varying from 6.0 metres at the entrance to 1.5 metres at the inner end. Shelter here is good in winds from all directions. | The town and small harbour of Tucepi lie on the Adriatic coast of [[Croatia]], four miles SE of the harbour of [[Makarska]] and three miles NW of the larger harbour and marina of [[Podgora]]. Pick up a mooring where directed or wherever one is free. You are most likely to find a berth along the breakwater. Laid moorings at all berths. If mooring in the deeper water towards the entrance, you may need to go stern/bows-to using your anchor. Depths along the breakwater range from 6.0 metres near the entrance to 1.5 metres at the inner end. Facilities include: reception office, internet point and toilets and showers. Daily berthing price for typical 13 metre yacht (August 2011): Euros 43. See marina website at: [http://www.marinatucepi.com/]. | Pick up a mooring where directed or wherever one is free. The town and small harbour of Tucepi lie on the Adriatic coast of Croatia, four miles SE of the harbour of Makarska and three miles NW of the larger harbour and marina of Podgora. The island of Brac lies eight miles to the W and the steep Biokovo mountain range three miles inland. A popular holiday town, the inner part of Tucepi harbour has been converted into a mini ‘marina’ with space for 50 vessels up to 15 metres in depths varying from 6.0 metres at the entrance to 1.5 metres at the inner end. Shelter here is good in winds from all directions.
Local Weather
Diurnal winds along the coast are mostly moderate during the summer months, predominantly from NW and rarely exceeding force 4/5. At night, katabatic winds off the mountains are a feature of some of the harbours along the NE Adriatic coast. During early spring and (especially) autumn conditions can be more unsettled, occasionally accompanied by violent thunderstorms - luckily of short duration - with winds of 30-35 knots or more and vicious, steep seas. In the winter the sudden, violent N wind off the mountains, the bora, is much to be feared, especially along the Velebitski channel. It tends to blow less strongly S of Zadar.
Equally prevalent in winter - although not uncommon in summer - is the scirocco, a S/SE wind that blows up from North Africa, usually in advance of a depression moving E across the Mediterranean. Unlike the bora, the scirocco only occasionally exceeds gale force, but is still a phenomenon to be wary of, especially if on a lee coast.

There are no dangers in the approach from N. If approaching from S, note that there is a rocky ledge extending for 400 metres off Rt Dracevac, the short headland a mile SE of Tucepi. Once closer in, the long breakwater protecting the harbour from W and S is conspicuous and the red light structure on the end of it. The harbour is entered from SE, leaving the small basin which is used by the fishing boats to starboard and continuing into the larger inner basin.
Berthing options
