It has a tropical wet and dry climate (Köppen: Aw). Tanga is a sleepy little town, with historical connections from both German and British colonial times. There are old German buildings and various war graves to visit. Tanga has, well stocked grocery shops, an excellent dairy, where milk, yogurt, cream, mozzarella cheese and butter are always available; a good vegetable market with a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables which are brought down twice a week from the Usambara Mountains. Internet cafes are plentiful. The local people are cheerful, friendly and easy going.
